The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking motivated individuals looking to join our proactive team as a Detention Deputy. We are seeking candidates to help us maintain a safe, community orientated, and approachable law enforcement presence within a great community.
Potential candidates should be at least 21 years of age, a United States Citizen, and be a high school graduate or equivalent. Candidates must possess a current driver’s license with a safe driving record, no Felony convictions, and no misdemeanor Domestic Violence convictions. Candidates must be of good moral character (as determined by a thorough background investigation), be free of any physical, emotional, or mental condition which could adversely affect the performance of the duties of a Peace Officer (as determined by a complete medical examination and comprehensive psychological test), and be able to pass a health-based physical fitness assessment. Wyoming POST certified officers are preferred, but not required, as training will be provided. Candidates should expect to participate in a physical fitness test, pass a written cumulative exam, and complete a board interview. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a background examination, drug test, medical test, physical exam; he or she must be eligible for Wyoming POST certification requirements. Successful candidates will be required to attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy’s Peace Officer Basic in Douglas, WY within one year of start date (unless already a Wyoming POST certified Peace Officer, entering as a lateral transfer, or are successfully able to challenge from another state).
Hot Springs County is an equal opportunity employer. Pay range for Detention Deputy starts at $3450/month, then DOE. Benefits include full Wyoming retirement after 20 years, medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, sick time, and vacation.
